To use simple mapping techniques to illustrate biodiversity - the larger the dot, the greater the biodiversity (or the higher the recorder activity).

By default, map dot size was based on count (or equivalent like dominance). It was reasonably simple to relate dot size to the number of different species recorded in each 10k square, and to let the user define ranges of count associated with each dot size.
