Project aims and objectives
- Adit was approached by a wildlife reserve who were already using AditSite as part of the development of a management plan because they needed to record environmental features such as Dune Slacks, Gravel Pits, Archaeological Sites
- Established recording methodologies were difficult to apply as they would only store a single point for position and would not therefore identify the extent of a given feature
- It would also be difficult to track changes over time, of the extent of an environmental feature
TopSoftware Development
- Faced with the challenge of effectively recording environmental features, the AditSite team came up with a new kind of item list which would live alongside the established built-in species lists
- When items from this new list are selected, AditSite expects a series of grid references that it can treat as the boundary of the feature
- This series of grid references can be built up by clicking on a series of points on a map
- Once recorded, these environmental features can be plotted and tracked over time, in just the same way as any other data recorded in AditSite
- Use AditSite to measure the area of any given feature
- Add your own specific environmental features to the default list to meet your specific survey or research needs
