Project aims and objectives
- Adit was approached by Kent Butterfly Conservation who were interested in developing the standard graphing facilities in AditSite
- They wished to display annual/seasonal sightings per day for a single species
- This would enable them to demonstrate changes in phenology and help them assess the quality of their recorded data
- Kent Butterfly Conservation also wanted to manipulate and compare data to support current and future research
TopSoftware Development
- Most of the infrastructure to support the graphing was already present in AditSite
- The real innovation was to allow the user to move quickly between either different species for a chosen time period or different time periods for one species

- Of course, once you give a user exactly what they want, they immediately come up with an enhancement
- Would it be possible to distinguish between sightings of the same species at different stages of their life cycle?
- Simple enough, adopt a user-defined field to record the stage, and nominate this field as the 'Map Symbol / Stage' field
- Mapping can then use different symbols for each stage and graphing produces a keyed chart

- As a consequence of user-input, these refinements were subsequently absorbed into the latest version of AditSite for all to use
