Butterfly and Moth Quiz

We were in *** ******* (what better name for a pub) watching a ******* strutting about on *** ***** terrace, when the topic of conversation turned to sailing. We were on the South Coast and could see ***** ***** ****s on the sheltered harbour waters. ***** my distant ****** ****** (but with a sense of humour) has always wanted to sail the world, and was droning on about Chichester and his voyage in ***** ****. I was not really listening when she asked where Pete Goss (always *** *************) had launched his unusual boat Team Phillips? - 'somewhere further up the ***** **** mouth, I think' - 'do you want another drink? Yes, I will have a ****** **** mouth sounds right to me'. I like the idea of sailing a yacht ***** (groan) but I am really only a ***** ******* (more groans).

Leaning against the **** was someone we had never met who seemed to be taking an interest in our conversation. *** ******** introduced himself as the **** ** ******** - were we supposed to kneel? At ***** ****** covered the stone floor. He was a **** *********, no mistake who looked more like a ******* ******* (you know, Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins), than a member of the aristocracy but he was clearly taken with my relative's good looks, dressed as she was in green - well more specifically ***** ****** personified said our new acquaintance, failing to spare the ******* *****. She flushed ******* ******** only with freckles.

The pub landlady was getting on a bit, and we were not surprised when the *** **** called time ***** **** skies greeted us outside though there were some ***** **** patches. *** **** skies would not put us off as the forecast was **** ***** worries were put to one side and we set off for the sailing club.

We were given charge of a small dinghy called ********* (thankfully not wrapped in a ***** ****** like her Egyptian namesake), with a ******* ********* (Like Fu Man Chu?) on her sail.

Our new friend wanted to helm the boat, and given his size we called him the ***** *******. Rather less of bulk, I was the ***** *******, and my cousin who could not even tie a ****** ** ***** knot, was designated *** ********* (this was beginning to sound more like a liner than a small craft). We set off across the harbour and headed for the distant **** ** ***** **** action was rougher than we had hoped, and we were bounced around by ***** **** waves. ***** ***** waves were striking the boat on the beam, and it was getting difficult to control the jib - *** ******** of sail flapped rather alarmingly when we were hit by a particularly ******* ****.

The helmsman was becoming rather bad tempered, and our now ******** ******* wanted to head for home. I have to admit that I was feeling a bit ***** ***naceous by nature though, I wanted to carry on. After a vote (a vote at sea, I ask you!) we decided to turn back. Visibility was not great but a ***** ********* on the skyline came to our assistance. Once the wind was behind us, conditions seemed to ease somewhat though we were still surfing on the larger waves. As I relaxed, I became aware of a pain at the top of my arm - luckily this turned out to be just a ***** ********-****.

Beaching the boat was going to be a problem. We decided to run in at full speed, and just turn up into the wind at the last moment, and then get under cover as quickly as possible. Explaining this to the crew, I said run up the **** **** for the clubhouse. This worked surprisingly well, and we were soon showered and dressed, and ready for home.

Two policemen were waiting in the club car park (I expect you knew this bit was coming, works either way round). The ***** ****** informed us that the Duke's Rolls had been stolen, and the ***** ****** said that he was welcome to a lift to the station. Ah well, every lining has a ****** *****.
