BioBase

BioBase was developed by Mike Thurner (then of Thurner Automation) as a simple to use yet powerful Windows based computer package for taxon specialised biological recording. BioBase was adopted as the standard for county recorders by the Mammal Society, the Bat Conservation Trust, the British Dragonfly Society and the British Lichen Society.

BioBase was approved by the BSBI, the Bees Wasps and Ants Recording Scheme (BWARS) and the Herp Groups of Great Britain and Ireland.

Versions were also released for Bryophyte and Beetle recording

The supply, support and development of BioBase was transferred to Adit Limited in April 2005. There followed a period of consultation with users and users groups (umbrella organisations) which resulted in a number of key program developments.
